We were briefed to transform a redundant and unusable medical centre building into a visionary office environment with a combined research facility.
By reusing the existing building instead of demolishing it, we transformed the previously ineffective deep plan layout into an efficient flexible space. We subdivided the floor plate by introducing two atriums, creating a sequence of spaces which were accessible from the new entrance. Our design makes the most of daylight and encourages occupants to interact. Once completed, the building was immediately leased to two major tenants, with the Adidas Group taking 20,000sq m.
Occupants can access dedicated retail areas and meeting suites via the double-height reception area. From these connected areas, we created a series of spaces that are part of the exploratory experience, leading to areas where ‘open innovation’ and collaboration can naturally and easily occur.
