The design concept proposes an ‘education village’ grouped around a central promenade to create a series of buildings permeated by green landscape. The promenade sits at the core of the buildings, and will be the metaphorical and physical heart of the school. It is a space for learning, teaching, social interaction and enjoyment; allowing direct access to a series of external courtyards, each with a distinctive character and use.
We focused on the quality of materials in order to make a positive contribution to the local character. The use of brick ensures the school fits well into its rural context and will age well. Black Timber cladding will complement the brickwork and soften the appearance of the glazing that will illuminate classrooms with natural light.
