The layout of the building allows the learning landscape to flow into the central heart space and each of the federations. Interaction with external learning spaces takes place at every opportunity. The central heart space is viewed from all federation wings, a central ‘hive’ area is located within the learning resource centre, over the main entrance.
At the heart of the school sits the Special Education Needs centre, which also features a quiet roof terrace. This puts the pupils of all abilities at the centre of the school to ensure inclusiveness.
Framing the north side of the public square is the community pool – it is conceived in a different material, using standing seam metal that slopes and wraps to the ground.
