We were briefed to create an adaptable, modern design which would meet the future needs of this global corporation. Our concept needed to form a harmonious connection with the existing buildings on BP’s International Centre for Business and Technology, taking its local context and community into account.
We designed the building from the inside out, following a comprehensive workplace strategy that reflected the client’s brand values and work patterns. We incorporated a variety of work settings into the four-storey building that support collaborative working, creating a series of vibrant and energising spaces.
Our envelope design featured passive sustainable design measures through the building orientation and the way we arranged the floor plates and atria. In addition we included dichroic glass fins that respond to different daylight conditions, minimising heat gain and maximising daylight penetration, alongside low energy smart building services and controls.
