Head of the Design Research Unit
A natural curiosity for ‘unlocking’ the complex three dimensional jigsaw of a wide range of building typologies has shaped and informed Alistair’s career in Architecture. Resolving both plan and section in terms of meaningful adjacencies, and coding these with an appropriate architectural language is what drives him. Coupling the ‘function’ and ‘form’ of a building to vernacular traditions, cultural references, intrinsic sociological values and technological advance has informed all Alistair’s projects over the last 35 years.
His recent projects include City of London office developments 67 Lombard Street and 32 Chancery Lane. Abroad, Alistair has worked on the new terminal at Medina Airport and on the design of a new headquarters for the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority - Alistair excels at distilling and interpreting a brief, thus enabling client groups and stakeholders to imagine and capture their vision right from the start of the design process.
