Vista, Chelsea Bridge designed by international design practice Scott Brownrigg has been commended in the ‘Housing’ category at this year’s prestigious Sunday Times British Homes Awards. The category celebrates the most impressive schemes of houses and apartments which have achieved approved planning consent but are not more than six months into development.

Situated directly opposite the Grade II Listed Battersea Park, the scheme comprises of two contemporary buildings of 6 to 16 storeys in height which provide 456 residential units. Vista challenges the traditional idea of amenity space associated with living in Central London apartments. The central concept is a building of penthouses, each with a generous garden terrace, more akin to what you would find in the leafy suburbs and an infinity style planted edge treatment, creating a strong connection with the Park. The innovative design ensures that with increased height the buildings step back to create an organic and curvilinear built form, sensitive in scale and massing to the setting. Designed to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, the scheme meets the Mayor’s London Housing Design Guidance.

The award ceremony was held in London and the panel of judges included Professor Robert Adam, Director of ADAM Architecture together with Helen Davies, Editor, The Sunday Times ‘Home’, and Redrow Homes Sales and Marketing Director Dave Bexon.

The Sunday Times British Homes Awards inspire architects and designers to join with enlightened homebuilders and developers to challenge conventional practice to shape great places to live, with a real sense of character and identity.They have been pivotal in providing a catalyst for change in the creation of new homes in the UK.
