Our Virtual Visits series offer a virtual tour of our designs every week. From freshly finished buildings to those not yet complete, the visits are narrated by the architects involved and offer a unique insight into the brief, concept and design features.
The second instalment in the series focuses on the CABI Headquarters. Director Ed Hayden and Associate Architect Rosa de Pablo navigate around the low-carbon office that Scott Brownrigg designed for the not-for-profit international organisation CABI.
Our design provides a two-storey, low carbon office that integrates an experimental bio-diverse landscape with a new collaborative flexible working environment. The design is highly energy efficient with detailed strategies for materials, orientation and structures. A passive ventilation system has been devised and the design includes a careful selection of materials for the building fabric, which will absorb carbon dioxide, to embrace the aim of a low carbon construction.
