International design practice Scott Brownrigg has joined with Challengers to transform the Bellfields Youth Centre in Guildford. Over one weekend, Scott Brownrigg’s Guildford office gathered 30 volunteers to completely makeover the centre. Over 400 combined hours of work were completed across the weekend and a huge amount of work was put in beforehand in order to prepare the building.

Last week representatives from Scott Brownrigg and Challengers met at the newly refurbished Bellfields centre to see all of the work that had been put into the building. The works included newly painted walls, new flooring, colourful wall art and a bright wall stencil in the entrance to make it bright and welcoming.

Established in 1979, Challengers are dedicated to providing exciting and challenging play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people. This valuable work is carried out through play and youth centres in Guildford and Farnham and through a range of community based projects across Surrey and the surrounding areas.

Scott Brownrigg has been involved with several charity partnerships in previous years and was delighted to work with Challengers on such a fantastic project.

Susie Jewell, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Challengers said; “We are overwhelmed with the transformation that has happened here. We cannot thank Scott Brownrigg enough for all of their hard work to make this space special for the young people that use it.”

Melanie Bertie, Architect at Scott Brownrigg said; “Scott Brownrigg is committed to giving back to the community and over the years its UK and international offices have supported a number of charities through charity fundraising activities. More recently, our support has taken the form of each office working on a community project. Our work for Challengers has not only been rewarding for those volunteers from the Guildford office that took part, but also in seeing the direct result it has had on those who work and visit Bellfields Youth Centre. We are delighted they are so pleased with the result and we look forward to further developing our relationship with them in the future.”
