Scott Brownrigg’s Digital Technology Unit launched its first Virtual Reality and networking event on 11 May providing guests the opportunity to experience the practice’s new Virtual Reality Development Suite.

Director Ed Hayden –

we have created a new Digital Technology Unit which is installing Virtual Reality suites throughout our offices”

Director Ed Hayden hosted the event and gave a presentation with an introduction to the practice and talked through a selection of Scott Brownrigg’s latest projects via VR technology. Guests were encouraged to fully engage with the VR design journey and experience the projects first hand within a compelling virtual environment. Ed Hayden went on to explain the many advantages of Building information Modelling (BIM) combined with VR and the direction that this exciting area is moving in.

Ed Hayden commented:

“In supporting our advancements within this area we have created a new Digital Technology Unit which is installing Virtual Reality suites throughout our offices. These will form the demonstration and critiquing hubs for clients and project teams alike, providing immediate and effective feedback on all aspects of a project as it evolves.”

The new Virtual Reality Development Suite enables clients and stakeholders to experience not only the special characteristics of projects through all stages of development, but also allows them to fully engage with the atmosphere created with their projects, and to experience the poetic nature of the designs envisaged.

Guests included the New Mayor of Guildford Cllr Gordon Jackson and Cllr Nikki Nelson Smith whose attendance plays into the Jackson’s focus for his mayoral year, ‘Inspiring Tomorrow’s Solutions Today’ and ‘Inspiring Guildford’s Future Innovators.’

Ed has significant cross-sector experience including offices, research and laboratory, residential, student accommodation, defence, transport and education and focuses on championing sustainable design, and design quality. Scott Brownrigg’s Digital Technology Unit current projects include ARM's new HQ building at Peterhouse Technology Park.
