International design practice, Scott Brownrigg has announced that it will continue its support of The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust for a fifth consecutive year. This year, the practice also raised funds in support of Alzheimer's Research UK, the UK’s leading research charity aiming to defeat dementia. Their world class research and pioneering work focuses on prevention, treatment and finding a cure sooner. 

During its last financial year, the practice raised and donated a total of £11,100 for the two charities through various fundraising activities. There were three major charity events arranged across the UK. Some members of staff walked or canoed various distances along the River Thames as part of the ‘Thames Challenge’ event, whilst others walked 15 miles from North Berwick to Coulston Estate in Edinburgh. The Cardiff team cycled 63 miles along the challenging but beautiful Taff Trail in Wales.

The cheques were presented by Scott Brownrigg’s CEO, Darren Comber on behalf of the practice to representatives from each charity on 12 November. 

Scott Brownrigg has supported The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust for the last five years with fundraising support as well as various initiatives including paid internships to assist young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to follow a career in architecture. The charity was set up in 1998 as a national educational charity committed to the advancement of social justice as well as promoting architecture and the creative industries to young people, particularly from ethnic minorities.

Support for, and involvement with the Trust includes: providing students with first-hand experience of life within our busy architectural studio via work placements and mentoring programmes; coaching on interview techniques and CV preparation; showcasing students' work in an annually held exhibition at the London head office to raise the profile of the Trust’s work as well as the abilities of the students themselves. The practice is committed to supporting the next generation of architects, and through the Trust has provided guidance, encouragement and employment to many bursary students.
