This strategic move aligns with Scott Brownrigg’s strategy for international growth and provides a specialist rail team that complements its existing expertise in aviation design and delivery.

It will enable us to promote a combined infrastructure offering to clients on a global scale” says CEO Darren Comber.

Founded in 1978 Acanthus Architects LW is a 30-strong practice of architects, and historic building consultants. Their current transport clients comprise Transport for London, London Underground, DLR and Network Rail amongst others. Recently completed schemes include Tottenham Court Road station, Crossrail Paddington Bakerloo Line Link, the Metropolitan Line Extension and Bath Spa station listed building works as part of the Great Western Electrification Project. The practice is currently working on the Meridian Water Network Rail station in the London Borough of Enfield, Paddington Bakerloo line station works as part of the Paddington Square development, and Step-Free Access schemes to London Underground stations.

Whilst they have a significant reputation for infrastructure design, they are also well known for their housing, education, heritage and conservation work which provide a synergy to Scott Brownrigg’s existing work within these sectors. In particular their expertise in PRS and Social Housing will enhance Scott Brownrigg’s residential work. Current projects include London City Island residential development for Ecoworld Ballymore, restoration to Hogarth’s House Museum and a new modern educational building currently on site.

They will continue to operate under the Acanthus Architects LW brand for a six-month transition period.
