Award-winning design studio Scott Brownrigg Interior Design has created a new agile working environment for BP’s IT business at Bedfont Lakes.
The design encourages collaboration, supports team work and facilitates communication and interaction through a series of flexible and appropriate work settings for an IT activity set. The creation of a number of ‘in-between spaces’, areas away from staff desks, supports both concentrated and collaborative working, as well as informal and formal meetings, and helps support the IT work activity and culture. Other facilities include a ‘Townhall’ meeting space, 250 seat restaurant with external terrace, high street style café, shop and gym.
From the outset Scott Brownrigg Interior Design worked closely with BP to produce a design which would communicate and demonstrate BP’s vision and values while also providing a stimulating working environment for BP IT staff and visitors.
The large floor plates within the building provide an opportunity to push the boundaries of a standard office layout and the decision was made to angle the entire space plan at 35 degrees. This allows for dynamic vistas within the building, particularly in the reception/restaurant and the upper floor social hubs, while breaking up the open office into a series of team zones. The building’s design conforms to the British Council for Offices (BCO) standard.
Feedback from staff has been extremely positive.
