Scott Brownrigg is pleased to announce its first two Level 7 Architectural Apprentices have joined the Practice. Amy Allwood and Max Collins have both been accepted by Oxford Brookes University and will start their apprenticeships in September.

The new Level 7 Architecture Apprenticeship Standard will enable candidates to achieve RIBA Part 2 and 3 while working in practice. As a Founding Member of the Architecture Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group of 20 practices - Scott Brownrigg has committed significant time and resource to developing this important new route into the profession that we hope will support diversity and reduce student debt. It is a fantastic example of what cross-practice collaboration can achieve.

Amy Allwood who featured in the Architect Journals recent article 'Are ‘earn and learn’ apprenticeships the future for architectural education?' has been working with the Practice since July. Here she explains her journey:

“I approached Scott Brownrigg in the summer of 2014 to work there before I went to University, as I wanted to confirm that Architecture was the career path I wanted to commit too. I really enjoyed the studio environment and the culture that surrounded working at the Practice. Scott Brownrigg helped me gain a greater understanding of the Industry.

4 years ago, I had no other option other than going to University, if there had been the option to complete my Level 6 whilst working I would have definitely followed that route.

Whilst finishing my Part 1 at Oxford Brookes this year I was told about the Part 2 and 3 Apprenticeship Programme. I feel that an apprenticeship will offer me different learning experiences, I can work and study at the same time.

I found out Scott Brownrigg were involved in the apprenticeship programme and explored the option straight away.

I feel the apprenticeship programme will provide me with a structured training programme whilst working towards my qualifications. It will help me gain the skills and knowledge I will need for the industry. I can apply my learning directly to my role at work.

I have just been accepted by Oxford Brookes and Scott Brownrigg to their Level 7 Apprenticeship Programme, which I am delighted about. I know I will get the support I need from both the practice and the university.”

There is a huge amount of interest from practitioners, academic institutions, and students and it is vital that we support the diversity of the profession by enabling new routes into qualification".
