Scott Brownrigg Director Maurice Rosario participated in a panel discussion on ‘Collaborative & Progressive Design’ at this year’s Passenger Terminal Conference.
The panel discussion which took place on Tuesday 26 March at 2.15pm cast the spotlight on the newly opened Istanbul Airport. Chaired by Graham Bolton from Mott MacDonald and Vice Chair of the British Aviation Group, the panel comprised of Maurice Rosario, Director at Scott Brownrigg, Sevgi Tokgoz, Project and Control Supervisor at DHMİ (General Directorate of State Airports Authority), Gudmund Stokke, Principal Partner at Nordic - Office of Architecture and Gorkhan Caydamlı, Partner at Fonksiyon Mimarlik.
The discussion focussed on how the design of Istanbul Airport progressed from one design team to another. And how the vision and concept design were preserved and developed into a delivered reality. It will looked at the methods that were implemented to ensure that knowledge and expertise were passed downstream.
The discussion covered aspects of the design which were considered fundamental for the success of the project and how the design process was managed and coordinated to meet construction deadlines.
Key learnings included:
1- Keeping close scrutiny and head office support to collocates site team
2- Timely consultation and building up a strategic and detailed brief
3- The importance of information gathering, deciphering and dissemination
4- Maintaining a holistic view whilst considering every detail
5- The importance of collaborating with other designers and supporting them to achieving the project objectives
