The awards celebrate the very best of residential development across the UK and comprise of thirteen categories recognising schemes, teams and solutions, paying tribute to landlords, developers, architects and also funders.
Cardiff Pointe is located on an underutilised 6.3 hectare brownfield site and is a significant element of the regeneration of Cardiff Bay. Uniquely benefitting from two waterfronts – the River Ely and Cardiff Bay, Scott Brownrigg’s masterplan and design orientates the homes to maximises views across both waterfronts. The first phases are complete and comprise 43 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, 55 three and four-bedroom houses, the affordable housing provision consists of 147 apartments and 12 houses, these are located on nearby sites. When complete, the development will provide a total of 640 homes including ten luxury five bedroom detached family homes and two landmark apartment towers of 23 and 27-storeys, which will dramatically cantilever out over the water and frame the development on the water edge.
Cardiff Pointe and its adjacent sister development the International Sports Village significantly contribute to the council’s desire and vision to create a world class and iconic waterfront attraction that can compete on the global stage. Set within a carefully landscaped environment, open public squares and play areas complement family life, whilst a main public plaza, to be delivered in a later phase will provide a heart to the development and will incorporate 8,000 sq ft of bars, restaurants, cafés and community facilities. A linear park will provide a new public route to connect the two waterfront walks.
Scott Brownrigg Director Neil MacOmish:
“The design for the development is based on a European urban model, with street squares and public plazas offering bars, cafes and community facilities. It creates a substantial new part to the city and bay, bringing mix and vibrancy to a complete regeneration project. To have a waterfront site is a tremendous opportunity - to have a site that has two water frontages is unique."
Winners of the Inside Housing Development Awards will be revealed at a black tie awards ceremony taking place 23 November at The Hurlingham Club.
