Data centres have a high energy use, water use and emissions when compared to other buildings in the built environment. The sector is working hard to reduce all three, so what does it mean for a data centre to be truly sustainable?  

Director and Head of our Advanced Technology sector Sam Stevens recently joined Concert and their roundtable on Building Sustainable Data Centres. Alongside other experts within the built environment, Sam shared insights around our role as architects in designing more sustainable data centres, partnering them with other building typologies to benefit from their waste heat and better integrating them into the world we live in while still ensuring they provide reliable and secure data processing and storage services for all of us.
